Antique German variety produces exquisite clusters of berries, deep dark red in color with an incredible aroma. Berries of good size for an alpine type, very sweet and juicy. Ovoid fruits weigh 2-3 g each. Remontant variety, which bears fruit in the first season when sown early. Very productive alpine variety, sweet and aromatic.
These strawberries were first discovered about 400 years ago in the low Alps. Unlike the wild strawberry, which bears fruit only in spring, the alpine strawberry bears berries from July until frost. The first, alpine varieties, obtained as a result of long selections, were called Bush Alpine or Gaillon. In Europe, great successes were achieved in the cultivation of strawberries even before the 18th century, and the new varieties, when grown in the right conditions, are incredibly productive and are grown as commercial ones.
