Seeds – Motherwort, 0.1 g.

A perennial plant, reaching a height of 1 m. Several erect, branched, stiff stems are formed from a short rhizome - tetrahedral, furrowed, hollow inside, often reddish-purple. The leaves are densely pubescent. Small pale red two-lipped flowers are collected in false whorls. Blooms from July to August. Quite a thermophilic plant. Likes sunny and spacious areas, nutrient-rich soils, planted at intervals of 40-50 cm, cut in the fall. Breeding is carried out by sowing in spring or dividing the bushes with subsequent planting of children in the fall. During flowering, only the flowering tips of the shoots are collected, dried and used as a component of teas. Collection is possible several times a year. The collected grass is dried in the air in the shade. Tincture, tea and alcohol extract of the herb have a strong sedative effect, which surpasses the similar effect of valerian. Motherwort slows down the heartbeat, slightly lowers blood pressure. Along with valerian, motherwort is used for cardiovascular neuroses, hypertension and angina. Strengthening, invigorating, stimulating, effective remedy against fear and anxiety, but also against worms, a feeling of heaviness in the stomach.
