Daikon Early Long White F1 is an early hybrid of daikon radish. The growing season is approximately 2 months. The root crop of this hybrid is white, without a green spot near the root socket. The length of the fruit is 40–45 cm, weight is 0.8–0.9 kg. The fruits are juicy in taste, crispy, and have no bitterness. Early Long White F1 is distinguished by a long shelf life, during which the taste of the root crop does not change. The fruits are suitable for both processing and the fresh market. The hybrid is suitable for growing in the fall.
Growing in open and closed ground
Early Long radish is grown from seeds. Direct sowing into the soil is most often done, but it can also be grown under cover. The root crops ripen 55–60 days after sowing the seeds.
Since this hybrid is suitable for autumn cultivation, sowing can be carried out in early August, and in more southern areas - in early September. This is convenient to do in areas after harvesting other crops, for example, dill or onions. For sowing, holes are made at a distance of 30 cm from each other and 2–3 seeds are placed in each. After sowing, the bed can be mulched with peat.
When grown under cover, seeds are sown in early April, and seedlings are transplanted into the greenhouse in May. This crop does not like dense plantings, so the distance between plants should be, as when grown in open ground, about 30 cm.
Care
This hybrid is absolutely unpretentious in care. When grown in open ground, it is necessary to ensure regular watering so that the plantings are in a slightly moist state. With a lack of moisture, the plant may go into a shoot, and the pulp of the root crops will become rough and bitter in taste.
Fungal diseases on plants can occur due to improper agricultural practices. Therefore, the best way to protect plants is to follow protective measures:
Compliance with crop rotation
Weed control
Loosening and moistening the soil.
After harvesting the roots, they are dried, the tops removed, and stored in the cellar in boxes with sand. Under such conditions, the roots can be stored for a long time without losing their taste.
